Christmas is one of the busiest holiday periods of the year for airports and BAA Stansted have posted their top travel tips to ensure their passengers have a great start to their festive journeys.
When you're travelling this winter be sure to pack as much as possible into checked-in baggge and ensure that you're within the weight allowances set by the airline you're travelling with. Passengers should also be aware that they may only carry one piece of hand luggage. Hand luggage must be no bigger than 55cm tall, 40cm wide and 20 cm deep.
Due to security checks it is also advised that if you're travelling with presents in your hand luggage they should not be wrapped as they may need to be inspected. In keeping with current regulations any liquids in hand luggage must be in individual containers no greater than 100ml capacity and and placed in a transparent re-sealable bag no larger than 20cm x 20cm in size.
In their statement BAA also point out that Christmas crackers are not permitted in hand or checked-in luggage.
Allowing plenty of time for your journey to the airport will also mean that any road works or accidents to not prevent you from getting to your flight on time. BAA advise arrival at the airport at least two hours before departure.
