Luton Airport have revealed that, for the first time in the airport's 70 year history, passenger numbers have reached the 10 million mark.
Based on a 12 month period, the figure is a clear representation of the demand for Luton Airport and it's expanding choice of destinations. Over the last two years new airlines have added over 40 new routes to the airport's destinations.
Managing Director of Luton Airport, Natalie Raper, stated: "With a key focus on offering more destinations to our passengers, particularly cities in Central and Eastern Europe and with the introduction of a premium transatlantic product from Silverjet's private terminal, London Luton Airport has seen a notable increase in passenger throughput, helping us to reach this fantastic milestone."
Airlines such as easyJet, Ryanair, Monarch, Thomsonfly and Wizz Air continue adding new destinations from Luton Airport while the premium airline Silverjet have recently introduced new long haul destinations in New York and Dubai. Wizz Air recently introduced its fifth Polish destination from Luton Airport while the hub also saw the arrival of SkyEurope which flies to Bratislavia, Prague, Kosice and Poprad.
