The Travel Foundation is a charity that helps the people and natural environment at favourite holiday destinations:

In Cyprus, the Travel Foundation has established a 'Discover the real Cyprus' self-drive route. This takes you away from the main tourist spots and directs you in to the heart of the island - up to the mountain villages, where the traditional way of life is almost unchanged. Visitors can wander down old cobbled streets, eat Cypriot delicacies in charming cafes and take in the breathtaking views over the olive groves and vineyards.

In Sri Lanka, the Travel Foundation is helping families use tourism to rebuild their lives after the Tsunami. The local ladies are learning to make new crafts out of natural materials that they can then sell in the newly built craft centre. Visitors can now buy high quality, hand-made souvenirs - a lasting memory of their time on this beautiful island. The charity is also inviting visitors to buy and plant a 'Tree for Life' to donate to a local family who have been re-housed after the disaster. The trees planted have medicinal or food value and are a lasting memory of your visit.
