Birmingham International is the sixth busiest airport in the UK and has the second highest proportion of business traffic, second only to Heathrow. Built in 1939, Birmingham Airport is built around two main terminals. It serves over 50 airlines and sends flights to over 100 destinations around the world. Located slightly over an hour north of Central London by train, BIA prides itself on being one of the most accessible airports in Europe and the midlands' base for low-cost airlines.
Birmingham Airport is positioned approximately 8 miles east of Birmingham City Centre and is accessible directly from Junction 6 of the M42 motorway. Access to the M42 is conveniently available from the both the M6 and the M40.

Birmingham Airport offers a new "Rapid Drop-Off" facility for passengers that are pressed for time. These areas, situated directly beside both terminals, offer 20 minutes parking for £1. Alternatively, BIA offer 60 minutes of free drop-off parking at several of their long stay parking bays. There is a regular free shuttle-bus service that runs between these and the main terminals.
Cars needing short stay parking or are picking up passengers can use BIA's low-cost Multi-Story car parks that are situated just two minutes' walk from the terminals.
