Manchester Airport has welcomed easyJet with the airline operating six routes from the airport. To celebrate the launch of the service the airline turned the city orange.
As part of a huge advertising campaign which will feature an interactive orange fun bus touring the city and offering residents the chance to win easyJet prizes such as flights and holidays to numerous sunny destinations.
easyJet UK general manager David Osborne stated: "easyJet recognises the the strong demand for low-cost convenient services from the North West and we are delighted to be the North West's largest airline."
The arrival of easyJet is expected to bring half a million passengers to the airport over the next year. Andrew Cornish, Managing Director of Manchester Airport stated that the airport was "delighted to be welcoming easyJet to Manchester. It is a vibrant and ambitious airline that will offer Manchester passengers a popular range of routes at excellent prices. The arrival of easyJet is great news for Manchester passengers."
easyJet will fly to an initial six routes from Manchester Airport; Heklion, Malta, Malaga, Paphos, Tenerife and Innsbruck. The airline currently serves 389 routes from 103 airports in 26 countries as Europe's largest budget airline.
