There's less than 100 days to go before Glasgow Airport's new skyhub extension opens completing the biggest single investment at the airport in 15 years.

On October 21 the ground floor domestic arrivals hall will open with the new security search area on the first floor opening just a few days later. The extension will offer a new selection of bars, shops and restaurants, bringing hight street names such as Starbucks, Sunglasses Hut, Hugo Boss and J D Wetherspoon to travellers at the Scottish hub.

Retail manager at Glasgow Airport, Gill Caleary stated: "The opening of skyhub will allow us to bring many more retailers to Glasgow Airport, offering more choice for passengers."

The new security area will be home to 10 x-ray machines to ensure a thorough, efficient and fast screening process leaving more time for passengers to relax before heading off on holiday. Managing director, Gordon Dewar said that "at a cost of £31 million, skyhub is a significant investment by BAA Glasgow in customer service and security, and signals our commitment to put passengers first at Glasgow Airport."

For those visitors to Glasgow airport that can't wait until October to see the new development, an opening day is planned for September for a sneak preview.
