Sunday 30th March will not only be the first day of British Summer time but will also mark the first day of flights from East Midlands Airport for Thomas Cook Airlines whose first flight takes off from the hub, bound for Monastir in Tunisia.
Thomas Cook Airlines will now operate two aircraft from East Midlands Airport, flying to 28 summer destinations and 15 destinations in winter. In-flight retail will include Lola Rose jewellery, Billy Bag products and Tom Ford fragrances for men. Passengers in the premium cabins will be able to relax with duvet quilts instead of blankets and u-shaped pillows for an added level of comfort.
Re-branding the planes into the Thomas Cook livery used more than 17,000 litres of paint after the airline as formed after Thomas Cooks merger with MyTravel. The planes have been prepared to allow the operator to cater for the 3.2 million passengers.
Frank Pullman, managing director of Thomas Cook Airlines stated: "We're very pleases to have our new airline ready for take-off from East Midlands Airport, enabling us to serve the people of the East Midlands even more effectively during the all-important sumer season this year."
